RODRIGUEZ
SCHOOL COMMITTEE
1 YEAR TERM
Bernadette Chirokas – In support of Anthony Rodriguez for School Committee
Anthony Rodriguez is an excellent choice for the School Committee one-year position.
He understands education in all its facets, for all our students across the age spectrum, from early childhood to preparing those entering adult life and making choices that will affect them for many years post high school.
He understands how a good education can shape the future, the need for meaningful support for students, to engage, enable and to ensure they flourish.
He is interested in our student academics to ensure that all students have the resources they need, from AP classes, and vocational support, to early childhood, elementary and middle school education and practical solutions for provision of all services, when budgets are closely examined.
Anthony sees how to help our students we need to ensure that our educators receive professional development in grade appropriate general education and their specialist fields. We continue to need to identify and provide resources in reading and math support for all age groups, with many of these supports begun early in their education, but also as students' progress and tackle more difficult material, in addition to helping students in other areas.
Anthony also sees behavioral health support as vital for all our students, and that all of our students feel they can thrive academically and socially in welcoming learning environments.
He is aware of the need to prevent teacher burnout, and the need for constancy in administration to ensure successful implementation of educational policies.
Anthony's background with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Architecture, leads him to plan carefully, examine situations from multiple aspects, be very clear on resolving issues, look at very large budgets very carefully and critically and be adaptable to the needs of the situation, and discuss the value engineering relationships of budgets.
Anthony has been interested in the progression of the plans for new elementary schools since he moved to Dedham, both in his professional capacity as an architect and as a future DPS parent. He is familiar with all of the needs of new construction, and the many ways in which older buildings can be remediated and refurbished to provide new learning spaces and improve the structures for students and educators.
Anthony recently took the tour of the Dedham High School and evaluated the need to prioritize critical repairs and has sought input from the current parents of Greenlodge,
Riverdale and Oakdale and the High School, on the issues they see for their students, for their education and the school's physical structures.
When the School Building Rehabilitation Committee, in the fall of 2023, asked for members of the public to step up and offer their expertise, Anthony became involved in many of the discussions.
His background as a key role in designing school facilities throughout the Commonwealth, in MSBA (Massachusetts School Building Authority) and non-MSBA funded projects ensured these new modern school facilities are accessible, safe, and healthy places to learn and teach.
I ask you to support Anthony Rodriguez for the School Committee, one-year term.
