Kaitlyn DeStefano – In support of Anthony Rodriguez for School Committee

I wholeheartedly endorse Anthony Rodriguez for the 1-year seat on the School Committee.

As a current Greenlodge parent of three children in Dedham schools, every year I eagerly anticipate learning about the candidates who are running and their platforms.

It is important to me that the candidate I choose puts the best interest of Dedham Public Schools at the forefront of their campaign and continues to work with a committee that is dedicated to keeping our schools moving forward.

I want someone who is focused on our students, faculty, and staff and who will work hard to ensure that our schools are always improving.

I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Anthony for the past six months as an ex-officio member of the SBRC for the Oakdale Building project as well as being a fellow Greenlodge neighbor.

Anthony has thoughtfully offered comments and explanations on what can be done to improve our many aging schools, which has added value to the School Committee.

As an Architectural Designer who has worked on past Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA)-approved projects, Anthony's direct knowledge is a valuable lens that will prove helpful in the upcoming months. We have three aging schools that need to be addressed in various ways, and Anthony's background would prove to be valuable in deciding how to handle these projects.

In the post-Covid era, the mental health of our children has become an increasingly important topic among peers and educators alike.

Fortunately, my child's school prioritizes mental health by providing staff who address these concerns and work collaboratively with my child, their teachers, and myself to achieve the best possible outcome.

I trust that Anthony will continue to be a voice and advocate for these essential services.

Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that LGBTQ+ students have a safe and accepting environment every day.

Our schools should be welcoming to all, regardless of their skin color or beliefs.

Our current School Committee is composed of a diverse group of individuals who either have children currently enrolled in the school system, had children enrolled in the past, or have no children at all.

I believe whether a candidate has a child currently enrolled should not be a determining factor in selecting a representative to represent our voices as parents and community members.

When you're submitting your vote for the one-year seat, I ask you to choose Anthony.

A vote for Anthony is a vote for continued progress in the town of Dedham and for Dedham Public Schools.

Please join me in casting a very important vote for Anthony Rodriguez for School Committee - 1 Year Term on April 13th.
